Are you plagued with a small living room? Barely enough space to fit your TV, a coffee table and a comfortable sofa? Fear not, we’ve got the furniture selection and the ideas to help you make the most of your living room.
TVs can take up a lot of space, and it’s not just because of the TV itself. If you count the fact that a TV usually requires a TV storage cabinet or a TV stand, then you’re buying an extra piece of furniture that takes up valuable floor space. Instead of relying on furniture that is placed on the ground, why not use the walls instead? A wall-mounted TV isn’t difficult to install assuming you have the right TV bracket and tools, and it can free up a lot of valuable space. In fact, it can save you having to get a TV stand or shelf and you can claim back a large chunk of space in your living room.
A TV stand on its own is pointless because it’s just taking up space just to place your TV down. If you’re going to get a TV stand, make sure it comes with plenty of extras like drawers, storage space, shelving and more. The idea is to utilise as much of the wall space that your TV stand is placed up against, so even if it doesn’t give you shelving options you can always install a couple of extra shelves above the TV itself. Just make sure to leave some extra clearance so that you have an easier time moving the TV around and reaching around the back to replace cables. We stock a large number of different TV stands that offer a lot of storage options and they even come in a number of different designs.
Most living rooms with a TV will have a coffee table between your main sofa and the TV itself. If you want to save space, get yourself a set of nested coffee tables instead of having one major one in the centre. This will save you a large chunk of space and, assuming there’s a place to store your nested coffee tables, you get more practicality as well. You can extend the number of coffee tables you have when there are guests around, or you can keep them hidden away if it’s just you watching TV.
Corners are often underutilised because they present a challenge for interior designers. Thankfully, we stock a number of different corner TV stands that come with ample amounts of storage. Simply stick them in the corner, put your TV on top and you’ll feel like you’ve just made your room larger. However, you might find that it’s more difficult to reach around the back of your TV set to reach the plugs or cables, so keep this in mind and don’t box your TV in too much so its inaccessible when you need to swap something.
