When choosing a bed for your child there are all kinds of things to consider – the material, the size, the shape and design, and the mattress that suits your kid. It is also important to take you child’s personality into consideration and not purchase a bed in a form of a car, when he’s all about dinosaurs and prehistoric animals. Here are 5 tips on how to choose great quality beds for kids.

Size always matters!

Bunk Bed with Stairs 2 - Top 5 Shopping Tips: Kids Bed

size matter  Size always matters

It’s crucial to know the size of your kid’s bedroom and to really think through what kind of bed you want to put in it – a single, a double, a bunk bed, a bed in a form of a helicopter? Kids grow up fast and it influences not only their height, but taste as well, so be mindful that in half a year your kid who was in love with Transformers now can only think about space ships.

How to choose great quality beds for kids: wood or metal?

It’s not the very first thing we think of when choosing a bed  for a kid, but it certainly should be. Both materials, wood and metal, have their drawbacks and good sides. For example, beds made of wood are quite durable and can go on looking new and polished for years. Yet, they are difficult to move and there’s a possibility of wood deterioration. With metal beds there is a problem that they may start squeaking, but they are generally less expensive and are lighter. Also, kids really like modern-looking metal designs.

Bed shopping tips for kids: how to choose a mattress for a child?

What is the best mattress for a child? The one he feels most comfortable to sleep in! Of course you can’t take the mattress for a “speed test” but you can take your kid with you when buying a mattress and let him try a few and see what seems more comfortable. Learn all there is to learn about mattress types (like foam ones, or innerspring mattresses) and test some of the best ones with your kid. You can even try it yourself!

More color or less color?

We often think that children’s furniture  should all be bright, colorful and gaudy, but is it actually true? Parents think it’s more fun that way, but you are not buying furniture for yourself, you’re purchasing it for the kid. Here the same rules apply – gaudy colors agitate the nervous system, and neon colors are just dangerous. So think carefully through color combinations you are using in the room to create a nice and comfy atmosphere.

Let your imagination run wild

When it comes to kids everything is possible. There are hundreds of unusual bed designs described in the best beds  reviews all over Internet, so take your time to look through some of them and choose something that really suits your kid’s personality. And don’t forget that children grow quickly, so buying a bad in a shape of a butterfly might not be the best idea in the long run.
