The corner sofa remains the defining seating choice in British homes, but Furniture in Fashion's 2026 analysis finds the version being chosen has changed substantially: depth has come down, backs have lowered and modular construction has become close to standard. The reason is that a fixed 100cm deep corner unit leaves under 2.5m of usable floor in a typical terraced through lounge, and reducing depth to 85cm or 90cm returns the walkway along the sofa's full length. Modularity is driven less by rearrangement than by delivery access, since a fixed three seater presents a diagonal depth of 100cm to 110cm against internal doorways often around 76cm wide.
