Hybrid working made the chest of drawers busier, and Furniture in Fashion's 2026 layout report concludes that height, not drawer count, decides what role it can take in a UK bedroom. A low wide chest at around 75cm remains a dressing and storage piece, while a tall chest at 100cm to 110cm sits close to standing work height, which has quietly given the tallboy a second function in bedrooms with no room for a desk.
