Flat pack children's chairs are quick to build and easy to build badly, and that is the finding at the centre of this report from Furniture in Fashion. The assembly is rarely the difficulty: the difficulty is that the joints taking the most abuse are the ones most often left under tightened, and slack in the leg fixings becomes a wobble within weeks. We set out the sequence that produces a solid chair, bringing every fixing to hand tight before tightening diagonally in stages on the floor the chair will live on, and we rank the joints by importance, starting with the leg to seat connection and the difference between a machine bolt into a barrel nut and a screw driven into board.
