The Mattress Price Index 2026: Five Years of UK Data

No continuous public five year price series exists for UK mattresses, and any figure claiming otherwise should be treated with caution, according to a new report from UK furniture retailer Furniture in Fashion. Rather than estimate a number, the analysis sets out the four factors that actually determine what a mattress costs: standardised UK size, spring or foam construction, filling quality and depth, and how the product is transported. It notes that the Office for National Statistics measures furniture and furnishings within its consumer prices work but publishes no standalone mattress index, and that specification changes make like for like tracking impossible.
