The report concludes that for most UK patios the practical limit is a unit of 100cm to 120cm across, seating four within a cleared circle of about 3.4m, and that anything larger needs a garden laid out for it rather than one accommodating it. It sets out the arithmetic behind that circle: table diameter plus roughly 75cm of seat depth and 60cm of walkway on every side that needs access, with substantial savings available where the arrangement is pushed toward a wall or fence.
