With modern technologies enabling people to work remotely from home, home offices are becoming more and more common these days. Naturally, more and more people come across pitfalls of teleworking – apart from obvious benefits, home environment is usually full of distractions. Hopefully, these tips on setting up your home office for maximum productivity will help you create good working conditions and effectively manage your work flow even if you work full-time from home.

Choose the right spot for your home office

First of all, you will have to look for ideal spot. It may be a kitchen, a bedroom, or even a closet; some people use hallway niches or a place behind a staircase for this purpose. Using a kitchen or a bedroom, however, while setting up your home office for maximum productivity, has a downside – as these rooms are not exactly fit for work, you may feel too distracted. A living room may be more appropriate for that, especially if it is spacious enough and you can allocatе a dedicated zone to your working area – screens and room dividers may work great. Alternatively, if you have a guest room, which you do not use most of the time, using it as a home office will be an excellent idea.

Get a proper office desk

The choice of proper computer desk will depend on a number of factors – whether you work at a standalone workstation or a laptop, and, of course, on the available space. If your work requires you to use printers and scanners, you may even need an additional table. You may have to consider going for corner solutions – such arrangements are comfortable and space efficient. Likewise, a desk for managing paperwork will have to be large enough to ensure your comfort. Think about these important aspects while setting up your home office for maximum productivity.

Make sure you get an ergonomic office chair

Getting an ergonomic office chair is almost as important as getting a reliable and powerful computer – especially if you plan to work continuously for 3-4 hours. A comfortable office chair will help you stay more productive and avoid serious back problems in the future, so its never advisable to downsize on costs for this important item. Make sure your chair provides you with solid lumbar support, allows you to lean back, and its height can be easily adjusted.

Install some storage furniture in your home office area

Depending on the available space and on your specific needs, setting up your office for maximum productivity will require you to install storage furniture – a set of shelves or a bookcase for storing manuals, folders and binders as well as stackable trays and document holders for storing paperwork. Take that into account while setting up your home office for maximum productivity.

Make sure your office area has enough lighting

Ideally, your home office area should be located in the spot with lots of natural light, but if that is not the case, make sure you have enough lighting sources to light up your office space sufficiently. There are lots of modern lighting fixtures, which are both functional and stylish-looking – pendant lights, table lamps, etc.
