A Household Chores Checklist Helps Even Out The Workload

A Household Chores Checklist Helps Even Out The Workload

In any household furniture , there are jobs that must be done on a regular basis. In a society where often both parents have jobs and the kids have school plus any extra activities, the tasks can be left undone and the messes can pile up while we are busy living our lives. It certainly is not fair to expect the Mother or the Father to handle all of the chores. The best way to make sure everyone does his or her part and that all of the work gets done is to create a household chores checklist.   It’s really simple to create the list and to make sure the workload is fairly distributed. First, list the things that need to be done daily. Washing dishes, making beds, laundry and other daily chores need to be listed first. Then add those chores that come around frequently, but not daily. This would include tasks such as mowing the grass, watering the flowers, dusting furniture or polishing silver. Then, finally, add in the bigger chores that are done just now and then. That would include jobs like washing the car, mending a fence, painting the shutters, etc. This will give you a fairly accurate...

Plans to Build a Magazine Rack, So Easy I Could Do It

Plans to Build a Magazine Rack, So Easy I Could Do It

Some projects require more creativity than carpentry skills. I learned this recently when I encountered a couple of unique projects. I found two different sets of plans to build a magazine rack . The one was fairly complicated and involved all sorts of measuring, power tools and devices that I had never heard of before. The other plan, however, was something that even a novice, such as myself, could accomplish with ease .  My plan involved an old ladder, some screws, paint and four 1 x 4 pieces of lumber precut to be four inches long (making them 1x4x4). First, using a saw (a tool I know), I cut the ladder to length, three feet long. I left the rungs in place, and sawed the wood at either end of its supports, leaving it open-ended. Then, I scraped off old paint and applied a coat of my preferred color. I sanded and then painted the four square wood pieces, too and let them dry. Then, using a battery-powered drill/driver, I drilled on hole in each of the four ends of the ladder’s sides, near the end of each of the support poles. I also drilled a hole in the center of each of the...

Trade Show Furniture, Quality Matters

Trade Show Furniture, Quality Matters

Every exhibitor at a trade show, whether they admit it or not, is trying to outshine his or her competitors at least as much, if not more, than they’re attempting to woo the attention of the visiting crowds. Having the best display at the show correlates into a better perception of your company by your peers, as well as by consumers. This having been said, perhaps it is time that your company invested in some quality trade show furniture  to ensure that in the next show, the best booth is yours. Furnishing your booth at a trade event or convention can be as simple as renting the table and chairs from an on-site vendor and then relying heavily on your staff and their handouts and samples to win over crowds. It’s cheap and it usually doesn’t work as well. The next step up the ladder is buying some decent quality off-the-shelf sort of trade show furnishings  to make your booth look a bit more professional. These can be portable and easy to manipulate, ensuring you can set up in any size/shape of space. This booth will be much more interesting to customers, and other vendors than the first one. The best...

Need An Exhibition Stand Manufacturer? Find One On-Line

Need An Exhibition Stand Manufacturer? Find One On-Line

Organizing an exhibit at a trade show or convention is a lot of work. You want your display to draw attention from the crowds and to induce them to linger and look over the materials you are handing out, view your video and sample some of your product. You want a good stand that will hold the items neatly and provide a professional look that lends credibility to your display and your company. What you really need to find is a quality exhibition stand manufacturer .   I rather doubt, however, that you are going to pull out a local telephone directory and thumb through it for a listing entitled “exhibition stand manufacturer”. While these display and stands are specialty items, and you might find a specialty store, the chances are they will have to order or custom-build the stand you want, costing you more money and valuable time. A better plan by far for locating the company you need to provide you with the best stand for your display is to shop for it on the world-wide-web.   The Internet is a huge marketplace and there are manufacturers  and retailers for any and all sorts of products available on-line. Just use your preferred search...

Three Great Items of Space Saving Furniture For A Dorm

Three Great Items of Space Saving Furniture For A Dorm

You’re off to college. You have packed all your favorite clothes, your MP3 player, video games and, of course, your laptop. What else could you possibly need in a dorm room? Plenty! Hopefully your parents will help out with the essentials such as bedding, dishes and small appliances. If you’re going to add a few furnishings yourself, here are three great pieces of space saving furniture  no dorm should be without.   The first is almost too easy. You need a desk. I know you think desks are old-fashioned, but you’re in for a surprise. Today’s desks are not the same ones your parents used in college. They are designed to hold and function optimally with and for computers. That means your laptop and any peripherals will feel right at home. Plus, you can actually store your books and maybe even find a place to plug in your cell-phone charger with the built in power strips. Cool, huh?   The next piece is one people think comes with the room. The bedside table is not a guarantee. If you don’t have one or if your dorm expects you and your roommate to share, get one of your own. Just opt for a bedside cabinet...

Why To Choose Lockable Medicine Cabinets

Why To Choose Lockable Medicine Cabinets

It is not easy living in the world today. So much of our sense of security, even in the privacy of our own homes, has been infringed upon by a world that may seem a little crazy to most of us. While no home is totally safe from the criminal element, there are some basic things we can do to keep our houses less burglar-friendly. One of the simplest and smartest is employing the services of lockable medicine cabinets .   Most of us know that many of the thieves are breaking into homes and committing bold and dangerous home invasions in search of three things: cash, easily pawned items and drugs. Sure, we might not have any cocaine or heroin in our bathroom. Still, these thugs often use prescribed medications to get high. Sometimes they mix them with other drugs and alcohol to achieve that state. Locking them away won’t prevent a blatant home invader from taking your prescriptions, but it might stop the silent and sneaky burglar who is bent on getting in and out quickly and quietly. There is another urgent reason to protect what’s in your medicine cabinet. The sad fact is that small children often overdose on their parents,...

Bathroom Designs For People With Mobility Issues

Bathroom Designs For People With Mobility Issues

Whether your mobility issues have been caused by an accident, trauma or are the natural result of the aging process, you require different things in bathroom designs  than people who are fully mobile. Fortunately, there are lots of designs that can provide you with the special features and fixtures you require and still offer you a good-looking bath that you will be proud to show off to family and friends. Any bathroom being used by a person with limited mobility should be equipped with the safety features that are required to enable them to use the toilet, the tub, the shower and the sink without risking injury and to get the job done. For some of us, remodeling our baths to accommodate our health issues requires little more than installing a few safety bars and an emergency pull cord that can signal for help. For others, the changes are more difficult and time consuming. If you can’t get into or out of a bathtub and refuse to resign yourself to showers only for the rest of your life, a walk-in tub can be useful. For those who want to brush their teeth at the sink, vanities that allow wheelchair access up to...

Bathroom Designs For Hotels And Rental Units

Bathroom Designs For Hotels And Rental Units

You run a nice clean hotel. Your rental condos are the best on the beach. You don’t want bad customer review of your property’s bathrooms  coming back to haunt your on-line bookings. Avoid this by investing money back into your rental and employing one of the stylish and hardworking bathroom designs  that are created especially for rentals and hotels. Unlike those found in a private home or apartment the bathrooms you are decorating are being utilized by dozens, even hundreds of guests each year. You need heavy duty that looks good, too. You need strong that is still comfortable and you need style that takes a beating and constant, repeated cleanings. In short, you need a quality rental unit bathroom plan and the fixtures to go with it. Unless you’re a boutique hotel or B&B, you don’t need fancy. You do need a tub/shower combo that is easy to clean. You also want a nice narrow toilet seat that won’t take up much room in the busy little area where it gets to squeeze in next to the bathtub. The sink needs a solid surface vanity top to hold it. That prevents spills and leaks. The plumbing fixtures have got to be...
