Sometimes, our furniture — TVs especially — needs extra protection. This is especially true for families with kids that have to take care of extra child protection, as well as for families with active pets, where both furniture and the animal can benefit from some extra protection. So, here are guides to install your TV stand without it falling:

Wall mounted TVs

One of the easiest suggestion that will save you a lot of trouble would be to go with wall mounted TV brackets rather than with a classic stand. This is one of the safest approaches, ensuring stable position and increased safety. Moreover, wall brackets are generally very affordable and do not require any special expertise during installation — you just have to follow these simple steps:

First, make sure to get the right size TV brackets — obviously, they should match screen diagonal.

Next, get rid of the base that comes with a TV. Usually, the base is not attached, but if you have used a TV stand before, you will have to carefully remove the base.

Attach the brackets to the back panel of our TV — there are special holes in the piece, and if you have chosen the right size of brackets, the two will fit perfectly.

Angle the brackets according to the manufacturer’s instructions, or choose the angle you are most comfortable with. Steadily fix the bolts to secure the brackets — typically, a simple screwdriver and a bit of effort are more than enough.

Choose the right height for your TV. Ideally, as you watch it, the middle of the screen should be a little bit above your eye level.

Mark the spot on the wall, where the brackets are going to be fixed. Use a level to make sure perfectly even mounting.

Drill the holes and use bolts that come with TV brackets to take care of the rest — the whole installation process should not take more than a couple of hours.

Securing your TV stand

The easiest way to secure your TV on a classic stand — whether from highly active pets or overly inquisitive children — is to go with some extra straps. Sure, straps might not be the most attractive decoration solution if you look closely at it, but on the whole it is relatively unobtrusive. Plus, the straps are not only useful for families with cats and kids but also for earthquake prone areas, protecting your TV from falling.

Finally, if you decide to go with a TV stand rather than with wall mounted TV brackets, it is crucial to get the size right. Do not forget that TV size on your box applies to screen diagonal only, so to make sure it fits onto the stand, you will also have to consider frame size (sure, it’s not huge but still), as well as things over how much more space you are going to need to your media-related units. There will be a couple of other aspects to think over, of course — this quick guide on choosing the right size of a TV stand should cover the essentials.
