Tips For Reupholstering Furniture

Dinning table is used quite frequently during every day living room furniture  and with time the upholstery starts to wear out and the dinning area become ugly. This is the time when your chairs need reupholstering. You do not always need professional help to change the stuffing and the cloth. You can easily do it your self by following these steps.

The fabric of the chairs is stapled at the back and can be easily removed by either taking the staples out or cutting the fabric around them. Measure the dimensions of the dining chairs for the covering fabric. Now you have to buy new fabric for your dinning chairs. Visit few shops and select a durable and easy to clean fabric which will go well with your dinning area décor. Buy extra fabric for the seam allowance and padding. It is always better buying extra rather than less then what is required. The excess fabric can easily be trimmed at the back of the chairs.

For the padding of the chairs, foam works quite well and is also durable. Many craft shops have padding especially designed for upholstery. Buy a little extra padding material for each chair. Also get a staple gun and staples from the hardware store and don’t forget to ask how to use it. Trace a pattern on a poster board using the chair and use it to cut the padding leaving at least half an inch extra. Put the padding in the center of the fabric and match the seats to the padding. Pull the fabric tight over the padding and the chairs covering the seat well. Staple the fabric to the bottom of the chairs by pulling tightly to avoid any wrinkles but not very tight to damage the fabric. Trim the excess cloth and repeat the procedure to the other chairs.
