Getting ready for the most wonderful time of the year? Maybe you want to have a few friends over for an informal get-together or, perhaps you are in charge of the company’s annual shindig. If you are planning a Christmas party, you will need to start several weeks ahead of time and plan meticulously to pull the entire thing off with style. Following a few basic steps can make your party a highlight of the holiday season.

First you want to choose a theme and narrow down the guest count. For a gathering in your home, limit guests to the amount you can comfortably entertain. If you’re booking a room for the office party, ensure the space is adequate for the number of revelers who’ll attend. While not all invitees actually show up, you cannot afford to assume that will be the case. It’s better to have too much space than not enough.

Once your space, theme and guest list are completed, then plan the furniture  lay out that will allow maximum mingling space, lots of chairs for those who opt to sit and plenty of serving space. Don’t crowd people, but don’t leave the floor empty unless dancing is part of your party plan.

Planning a Christmas party for a mixed group, like an office gathering, is harder than for a house full of friends. Be sure you offer something to appeal to a broad spectrum of tastes. From food to music to lighting, work to ensure that everyone has a niche where they’ll feel comfortable.

A great Christmas celebration for family and friends or for an office full of coworkers is not that hard to pull off. It will be easier still if you stick to these basic steps, and you can even have fun putting it all together.
