The teenage bedroom is where UK housing runs out of space, and no published dataset supports a postcode level demand map, according to new analysis from furniture retailer Furniture in Fashion. The report declines to draw a heatmap, noting that no official UK body publishes furniture demand at postcode level, and works instead from housing data: the Nationally Described Space Standard's minimum single bedroom floor area and the English Housing Survey's record of the housing stock. It finds that a teen room must serve sleeping, study and socialising in a footprint designed for one function, and identifies desk depth as the most commonly overspecified dimension, with 50cm to 60cm sufficient for laptop or single monitor use. With floor area fully committed in a minimum sized room, the analysis concludes that height is the only spare dimension and tall narrow storage is the only honest answer.
