Standard Sofa Dimensions UK: Width, Depth & Seat Height Reference Chart
There is no legally defined standard sofa size in the UK, but there are conventions the industry follows closely, according to a new reference chart published by furniture retailer Furniture in Fashion. The analysis sets out the dimensional bands that matter: seat heights between 42 cm and 48 cm, seat depths between 55 cm and 65 cm, overall depths between 85 cm and 100 cm, and arm heights between 55 cm and 68 cm. It publishes width, depth, wall run and realistic capacity figures for every common format from single armchairs to large corner sofas, and argues that seat height and depth together determine whether a sofa suits an entire household, since a firm seat at the upper end of the height range is far easier to rise from.
