A standalone bar table is a floor area decision rather than a drinks decision, according to a new report from Furniture in Fashion which makes clear that it is editorial analysis rather than polling, and that no UK dataset on bar table purchasing is published anywhere. The report calculates that a 60cm round top on a column base claims under 0.3 sq m of floor against just under a square metre for a 120cm by 80cm dining table, and that a central column leaves every side of the surface approachable. It examines stability as a lever problem, recommending a base disc of at least two thirds the top diameter, and names BS EN 12521 for domestic tables and BS EN 12150 for toughened safety glass.
