The report finds no published dataset ranking chair preference by region, and instead examines the rooms these chairs occupy. Where the English Housing Survey records a high share of pre 1919 terraced housing, desks tend to sit inside bedrooms and living rooms, favouring compact low back fabric and mesh chairs that push fully under the desk. Where newer semi detached stock provides a dedicated study, larger task and executive chairs become workable.
