Multi-Generational Homes: Furniture Survey of 1,000 UK Households

A household containing three generations does not need more furniture, it needs furniture that resolves conflicting requirements in the same rooms, and Furniture in Fashion's 2026 report sets out how. No survey of 1,000 UK households underpins it and no findings are presented: Office for National Statistics household composition statistics and the English Housing Survey remain the sources for the demographic picture. Seat height is the most consequential measurement in a shared home, with 45cm to 50cm allowing most adults to rise unaided and firm arms at 60cm to 65cm providing the push.
