The Best Metal King Size Beds for Period Bedrooms

Metal bedsteads have been part of British bedrooms for well over a century, which is why they sit so comfortably in period homes. Choosing the right king size frame, however, depends on more than style alone. In this guide we explain how to match a metal bed to the era of your property, from decorative Victorian rooms with tall ceilings to lighter Edwardian interiors, restrained Georgian spaces and interwar homes with picture rails. We cover practical considerations such as chimney breasts, alcoves, sash windows, original floorboards and ceiling roses. You will also find advice on finishes that feel authentic, furniture that pairs well with a metal frame and a short checklist of measurements to confirm before ordering a king size bed for an older home....
