Furniture in Fashion reports that the order in which British households furnish a home is decided by necessity and access rather than by design preference, with beds bought first because nothing substitutes for them, seating second and dining furniture frequently deferred. Our analysis finds that storage is the most consistently underestimated category, typically bought late and bought twice once boxes are unpacked and households discover what has no permanent home.
