The report finds that a single vanity unit can combine moisture resistant board, laminate, adhesive, ceramic, metal fittings and mirror in bonded assemblies, each with a different recycling route. Moisture resistant engineered board, the material that lets bathroom furniture survive humidity, is not accepted in kerbside collections and generally requires a household waste recycling centre. The analysis identifies modular construction as the decisive factor: separate cabinets can be rehomed individually in utility rooms, garages and cloakrooms, while fused runs with a shared worktop fit nobody else's plumbing. Fifteen minutes of dismantling separates metal, glass and ceramic into streams that are genuinely recovered.
