Bathroom comfort in British homes is created by clearance and storage depth rather than by fittings, according to a new editorial index from Furniture in Fashion. The analysis finds that the rooms which feel generous are those where a person can bend, turn and dry themselves without contact, and that a vanity unit just a few centimetres too deep can undo the comfort of an otherwise well planned space. Referencing the access and space principles in Building Regulations Approved Document M, the report sets out the clear space needed in front of basins, WCs and baths, and explains why wall hung units improve perceived volume by keeping the floor visible.
