Summer Outdoor Eating: Survey of 2,000 UK Adults on Balcony & Garden Use

Outdoor eating in Britain is a small space activity, and Furniture in Fashion's 2026 report sizes the furniture accordingly. The typical setting is a patio a few metres square, a narrow side return or a balcony barely deep enough for two chairs, and the limiting dimension is almost never the table but the clearance behind the seating. No survey fieldwork underpins this report and no figures are presented; the analysis works from standard outdoor furniture dimensions and Office for National Statistics analysis of household access to private outdoor space, which is markedly lower for flats than for houses.
