Bathroom Furniture & Ageing: Survey of 1,000 UK Over-60s on Access & Falls

We did not survey 1,000 people and this report presents no fieldwork findings, because Furniture in Fashion will not publish numbers it cannot stand behind. What we can set out is the physical evidence: the heights, reaches, clearances and surfaces that decide whether a bathroom stays usable as strength, balance and grip change. Our conclusion is that bathrooms become difficult through details rather than through layout. A cabinet handle needing a pinch grip, a vanity that forces bending, a raised shower tray lip and a polished floor tile each contribute, and each is individually fixable. The report covers wall hung vanity heights for standing and seated use, why drawers outperform cupboards, grab rail fixing into structure rather than plasterboard, slip resistance as a property of tile finish, and lighting as an access issue rather than a decorative one.
