Corner desks are not harder to assemble than straight desks because they have more parts. They are harder because the finished object has to be built in the corner it will occupy, and a corner is the one position in a room where you cannot stand behind what you are building.

Why the corner is the problem

The tightening sequence

The reason is geometric. An L shaped structure has more degrees of freedom than a rectangular one. It can be square at both ends and still be twisted through the corner, and it can sit flat on a level floor and rock on an uneven one. Getting it wrong is not a small error. It means either working with the return on the wrong side, which puts a monitor and a keyboard in an awkward relationship, or dismantling far enough to reverse it, which is most of the build again. Two things change after the build is nominally finished, and both are worth anticipating.
The first is carpet. A desk assembled on carpet is standing on a compressible surface. As the desk is loaded with monitors, a PC and books, the feet sink at different rates depending on the load distribution, and a desk that was level at the end of assembly develops a lean. The response is not to tighten harder but to load the desk first and check level afterwards, adjusting feet if the desk has them.
