Moving A House Checklist Who To Notify Before You Go

Moving into a new house is challenging enough – there are so many things to get ready in your new home, make it clean, order all the missing items, explore the neighbourhood, and so on and so forth. Then, of course, there is the packing and sorting in the old house / apartment, which often leads to getting rid of the old junk, and many more. With a list that long, it is easy to forget plenty of things, and notifying all relevant agencies and services is one of them. So, to make sure everything is in order, take a look at the full moving a house check-list, who to notify before you change your address.

Utilities services

Different services and utilities should be the first ones on any list. After all, you will have to receive the bills to your new address pretty soon. Do not forget about:

– Electricity

– Water

– Gas

– Telephone

– Internet, cable, satellite TV

– Post office

Finance

– Banks and creditors

– Office

– Insurance and pension companies

– Tax department

– Social security

Personal

– Friends

– Relatives

– Colleagues

Health

– Doctor

– Optician

– Dentist

Vehicles

– Insurance

– Registration

– Breakdown recovery

Other

– Schools and libraries

– Clubs and gyms

– Delivery services and subscriptions (post office may forward some your subscriptions to a new address, but a milkman can only find out about the change from you).

Sure, all of those things have to be done right before you move out. However, even if you are anxious to set foot into you new home, you should not rush the things up. After all, there are so many things you have to do before you move in, including cleaning, sanitizing the house, and getting it ready for your arrival. And, most of the points on a pre-moving in checklist should be done weeks in advance.

Buying new furniture  is often one of those things. If you see that some of the crucial items for your new home are missing, you should take some time to consider your future interior and find all the relevant items.  Both of these tasks can be quite time-consuming, so the sooner you get to them- the better. If, for example, there are extra rooms in your new house – like a dining room , for instance, ordering new furniture in advance is essential. You should not forget that plenty of online stores have long delivery times, because few companies operate in the UK, and plenty of them do not have all the listed items in stock.

All of those things increase the delivery time, which is why if you need items urgently, you should either search for them in on site stores, or order from a local company that has a warehouse and a set of its own couriers to ensure quick delivery – for example, like Furniture in Fashion – one of the few independent UK operators that have 99% of listed furniture items in stock and deliver even the bulkiest items within 10 business days.
