How To Decorate A Small Hallway

Hallways  are usually the most rejected places when it comes to home décor especially if the hallways are small. We usually stress on the larger areas like the drawing room and the lounge and bedrooms  and completely ignore hallways, which actually are one of the most important areas in any home.

You should know that when a visitor comes, he or she usually looks at the hallway with the same concentration as he/she looks at any other room. Thus the hallways deserve equal attention if not more and here’s how you can simply decorate them. Get one of those long rugs and place them in the hallway floor. Not only will it look nice and well taken care of but it will also represent your style. Make sure you have enough lighting in the hallway. If there’s lack of light, install some lights. You can easily find ceiling or wall fixtures. Lamps  don’t work in hallways so avoid them. If there’s more light in the hallway, it won’t look small and cramped so take care of lighting.

Also, you can get the hallways painted with texture paint or a light colored paint. Plain white walls are bound to look dull and boring. So stay away from white! And if white paint is already used on the walls and you don’t want to change then accessorize the walls with pictures or wall hangings or anything that floats your boat and suits the rug that’s placed on the floor. You can also use mirrors in hallway walls. They look really good there! Simply get hold of a few similar sized mirrors framed in black or dark brown or even silver and then arrange them in a way that some of them are slightly above the others so they look artistic and funky. These simple steps can make your hallway look very nice.
