Cut all matching pieces together where you can. The two side panels must be identical, and cutting them from the same setup guarantees it in a way that measuring each separately does not.
Label every piece as it comes off the saw. Once you have eight similar rectangles on the floor, identifying them by eye becomes surprisingly difficult.
The basic box is two sides, a top, a base, and the back. Assemble it face down on the flattest floor you have.
Join the panels with screws into pilot holes, ideally with the screws going through the side panel into the end grain of the top and base. Pilot holes are essential in MDF, and a countersink lets the screw head sit flush. Add wood glue to the joints for rigidity, though it does make future dismantling impossible.
Confidence in squareness comes from measuring the diagonals. Measure corner to corner both ways: if the two numbers match, the box is square. If they differ, push the longer diagonal gently until they agree, then fix the back panel immediately to lock it there.
The back panel is what keeps the wardrobe square forever. Screw it at regular intervals around the whole perimeter, not just at the corners. This single step is the difference between a carcass that stays true and one that racks within a year and stops the doors closing.
