<\/p>\nI know that I take words a bit too literally. It\u2019s probably part and parcel with being a writer. Still, when I am shopping in a furniture store and I see an item labeled as an \u201coccasional table\u201d, I begin to wonder. If it is only a table on occasion, what is it the rest of the time? Lots of furniture names make you wonder. Loveseats are for more than making out, and they look a lot like a small sofa. Why not just call them small sofas? Okay, I am getting carried away. What I really wanted to talk about was all of the fun you can have with occasional tables all of the time!<\/p>\n

Of course, let\u2019s set the record straight. I am fully aware of the fact that they\u2019re called occasional because they can have multiple uses and can be used in different sorts of decors. While I might find their name a bit confusing, I really enjoy the use of an occasional table beside my sofa to hold my carafe of wine and a plate of crackers when guests are around and then that same table in the corner by my sewing chair to hold the lamp when they are not.<\/p>\n
Occasional tables<\/strong>, coffee tables, end tables and other specialized tables can spend time in the occasional category. I have, on occasion, used my coffee table on my deck to hold platters of drinks. In that same vein, my antique drum table makes an excellent table for a chess game. Find an occasion and choose a table, then you will get a better understanding of the term.<\/p>\n So, whether you buy them as occasional tables<\/strong> or to use as one sort of table regularly and then for improvising during certain circumstances, remember that small, easy to move tables are essential to many great decorating styles.
