If you\u2019ve been embroiled in interior design projects over the last year or so and have bought all sorts of lovely living room<\/a><\/strong> furniture, then you\u2019re sure to have come across the term \u2018hygge\u2019 before. The concept of hygge, a Scandinavian word, is basically all about being cosy, comfortable and enjoying a simpler more relaxed way of life.<\/p>\n

Head off to Instagram and search for the hashtag #hygge if you want to see what all the fuss is about and to get a few ideas as to how you could incorporate this trend into your own home. It\u2019s all about calm colour palettes, natural textures and materials, and minimalistic clean lines when it comes to interior design and hygge \u2013 and the best thing about Instagram is that it couldn\u2019t be easier to find inspiration for your home d\u00e9cor on the site.<\/p>\n

However, there\u2019s a new kid on the block when it comes to interior trends and if you\u2019ve somehow missed the hygge furore, you might want to bypass it in favour of the Swedish concept of \u2018lagom\u2019. This might actually be a bit easier to translate as an idea into interior design, since it means \u2018just the right amount\u2019. Think of it as the interior design<\/a><\/strong> version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears \u2013 not too little, not too much. But just right.<\/p>\n

If you already love your minimalist design, then this emerging trend is sure to have you very excited indeed. Paring back your home d\u00e9cor will help to simplify your life and you might even find that you enjoy your home even more now that you can see more of it! Design ideas could include natural wood floors on show, marble flagstones in the bathroom, very neutral colour palettes and lots of straight lines and angles.<\/p>\n

By living a bit more simply, you might be surprised at how quickly your mind clears and the little niggly worries and concerns you have fade into the background a bit, seemingly less important. A cluttered and overdesigned home, by contrast, could have the opposite effect so if you do want to destress in 2017 then adopting a few lagom principles might be a great idea.<\/p>\n
