It can be hard to get right but just follow this set of tips from us here at Furniture in Fashion and you really can’t go wrong.

Follow the 3ft rule

Put all the furniture you intend to have in a space in the room itself and make sure that when you arrange it all you have around three feet of walking space around the entire room. You should be able to make your way around without walking into any tables, chairs or sofas, or bumping into the walls. If your furniture has drawers or doors on it, make sure you can open these fully as well.

Position rugs properly

A good living room rug can really bring a space together but if you don’t arrange your furniture properly on it, it will look a little strange. Position all your seating so that their legs are either completely on or off the rug, so there are no little wobbles to contend with. Plus make sure that the corners of your rugs aren’t in any thoroughfares, so you can prevent people from tripping up.

Come up with a focal point

Whatever room you’re working, make sure there’s a focal point. This could be a big and beautiful window or a fireplace, or even the TV if you must. Arrange your furniture around your chosen feature as this will help to give the room more structure.

Prioritise your bigger pieces of furniture

Your first port of call should be to imagine where you’re going to put the biggest pieces of furniture (generally speaking, the likes of beds and sofas) and then try and work out where the smaller pieces will fit in.

Think about comfortx

As important as it is for your living spaces to look good, they also need to be both practical and comfortable for you and how you live your life. So, in the <a href="https://www.housebeautiful.com/room-decorating/living-family-rooms/g715/designer-living-rooms/" target="_blank" noopener">living room for example, make sure you put coffee tables and lamps within easy reach of sitting areas – and also make sure there’s enough room for people to walk behind pull-out chairs if and when they’re in use.

Use an app

These days, we have so much technology at our disposal you’d be silly not to try and use it to your advantage somehow. Luckily, there are countless furniture arranging apps out there available to download so why don’t you try one and see if it helps you work out what should go where.

Once you’ve finished arranging your room, make sure you take a photo of it and send it into us. We’ll feature our favourites on the blog!

For further help and advice on bedroom furniture UK, get in touch with us today.

You might well have bought the perfect set of bedroom furniture but if you don’t know how best to arrange your home furnishings, you can make your living spaces look cramped and overcrowded… which no one wants really, do they?
