Furnishing your flat or apartment with style requires a bit more ingenuity than putting together a nice d\u00e9cor in home. After all, the average house is at least a few hundred square feet larger than the average apartment. The bathrooms are smaller in the flat and the closet space minimal.<\/p>\n

You need a sense of style and some solid, common sense, as well when you\u2019re tackling this task. You also need the kind of items that pull double duty, and plenty of them. Furniture <\/a> for flats needs to be functional, flexible and fashionable! In a home, we\u2019d often think of style over substance. In the flat, we think of function over form. After all, it might be a great coffee table, but it all it does is sit there and wait for those rare occasions when someone uses it to serve coffee, it\u2019s wasting valuable space. A coffee table, on the other hand, that has cabinets beneath the table surface to provide storage, as well as offering the table top surface, that\u2019s a keeper for the apartment decorator.<\/p>\n

The idea is to make the most of the space you have. That means using smaller pieces and making sure the pieces you choose will not only fit in with the color scheme, but also do the job you\u2019d expect and maybe a couple you don\u2019t expect. So, restrain any impulses towards overly large, and less than useful items and put your focus on small, stylish pieces that can perform more than one task and make the space you have efficient as well as tasteful. In the end, you won\u2019t miss that square footage you don\u2019t have because you won\u2019t need it.<\/p>\n
