Wall hung vanities keep the tiled plane continuous underneath, which makes a room read as larger and simplifies cleaning, while tall units of 30cm to 35cm wide claim the awkward gaps beside a WC that conventional furniture cannot use. The report sets out the working clearances that make a small bathroom usable, including 55cm to 60cm in front of a basin, 35cm to 40cm either side of a WC centreline and a basin rim height of 80cm to 85cm. It also examines how bathroom furniture actually fails: water reaching unsealed cut edges and hinge holes, made worse by poor extraction. Building Regulations ventilation requirements, moisture resistant construction, mirrored cabinets and cloakroom-scale basins are all covered.
</oembed>
