Tips to consider when buying extendable wooden dining tables

Wood remains the favorite material in manufacturing both indoor and outdoor furniture. Although many new materials have been introduced for making furniture, wood remains the top choice for buyers. Wood brings a certain charm and character in the room and makes any piece of well-crafted furniture, whether it is bed, dining table, divider, dresser, or extendable dining table, timeless and priceless. An extendable wooden dining table  is beautiful and practical and is available in contemporary, country, and traditional designs. There are many types of woods, each having different characteristics. Certain types of woods such as oak, mahogany, and pine, are suitable for indoor furniture only while teak, eucalyptus, and shorea are used for outdoor furnishing items. The price, durability, and ease of maintenance of the extendable wooden dining table all depend on the type of wood used.

Every home makes a statement and is decorated in a certain style; an extendable wooden dining table is more suited for homes that have traditional décor. This is because wood furniture exudes warmth and comfort, which are the essence of a traditional home. This does not mean that modern homes cannot have extendable wooden dining table. Stylish extendable dining tables crafted along modern lines are also available. Extendable dining tables made from wood are available in different sizes and shapes. An extendable dining table can be extended to seat ten people, while the size of antique Victorian or Edwardian wooden dining tables can be altered to comfortably fit up to twenty people. Antique extendable dining tables are made from the best wood and last a long time.

Durability is the most important factor when buying an extendable wooden dining table. When it comes to durability, white oak is often considered the best. Other types of wood such as mahogany, red oak, pine, birch, chestnut, and walnut, are also known for their durability. If cared for properly, a wooden dining table lasts a long time. The finish of the dining table also matters, as it acts as a barrier to damages such as scratches, watermarks, and stains. When buying an extendable wooden dining table, make sure that it is covered with multiple layers of paint finishes or wood stain finish. You can also check the durability of the wooden extended dining table by reading the instructions for furniture care. The instructions “clean with dry cloth or water only” show that the extendable dining table is solid, sturdy, and durable.

Your budget is quite important when buying extendable wooden dining table. Mahogany wood dining table is expensive because of the fine graining and reddish brown hue that makes it look exclusive. Oak extendable wooden dining table is also expensive because of its durability. Pine, walnut, and chestnut are quite good quality-wise and are relatively inexpensive. They, however, lack the finesses of mahogany and oak. You can also buy used extendable dining tables made from wood but do lookout for scratches, stains, and decay. A wooden extendable dining table will make your dining room look charming and unique. It is a great investment and gives you good value of money.
