Mirrors That Reflect Your Good Taste

Most of us probably don’t think of mirrors as decorating tools. For the majority of people, they are simply glasses in which to view your own reflection during such mundane processes as brushing your teeth, shaving your chin or putting on eyeliner. While most of us have several mirrors in our homes, they are not usually placed there to create a sense of style or drama. They are tools. Now is the time to take those looking glasses and make them into reflections of your home’s unique style.

A mirror can add depth and dimension to any room. The larger the room, the bigger the glass would need to be. In a small room, however, the reflection of the area gives the appearance of a much larger space. So, for the cost of an inexpensive mirror, you can double the look of the room. Mirrors can be framed. Some of them come with ornate gilded frames and others with artsy, fun metal or painted frames. All of these look good staged in a room where maybe you just haven’t found the right painting to fill that spot. You and your guests will enjoy a place to peek at their reflection as they study the intricate framing, and you’ll have added a valuable accent piece to empty wall space. The bedroom, yours or a guest room, is the perfect place to showcase a good stand-up mirror or a set of long beveled glass mirrors. If you’ve got a pair, place them on either side of an armoire or large piece of furniture to provide accent and for convenience.

So, don’t think of the mirror as a tool any more. You can see by now that there are plenty of ways to taking ordinary mirrors and turn them into reflectors that cast a spotlight on your home’s good taste.
