How To Use And Store Folding Chairs

Folding Chairs

Folding chairs may not be some of the most luxurious furniture units; however, they are practical, affordable, and very space efficient. Moreover, there is plenty of ways to make use of these simple budget furniture units — after all, a folding chair does not necessarily have to be a portable furniture piece for your occasional picnics. Here are just some ideas on how to use and store folding chairs — ideas, you may not have thought of before:

Indoors

First of all, folding chairs have gone a long way by now. These days, it is possible to find a lot of sleek models that can be used indoors. In particular, a couple of folding chairs may come in handy if you have an extending dining table in your apartment. In a non-extended position, this table is usually enough to accommodate you and your family. So, it is only reasonable to go with a set of matching, non-folding chairs for everyday use. When more people come over, and you have to extend the table to accommodate all of your guests, folding chairs come in. The same goes for drop-leaf, convertible, and pretty much any other tables that feature a flexible seating capacity.

Outdoors

Sure, outdoors (patios, gardens, backyards) is the first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of the use of folding chairs. There are indeed plenty of bistro furniture sets that come with folding chairs and — sometimes — even tables. The major benefits of using folding chairs outdoors are that these models are very flexible and lightweight, so you will not have any difficulty moving them around. Sure, while indoors call for more expensive folding chairs models (you should, at least, consider MDF for the interior), the outdoors leave you more room for the imagination. You can consider plastic, aluminium, in wrought metal, or even wood — all of these options will look great in your backyard.

Storing tips

Sure, one of the obvious questions that come to mind while looking for folding chairs is where to keep them. In case of the outdoor use, the answer is pretty simple — your shed or garage can usually store a whole set of chairs. Given their compact size, even the smallest shed will do. Inside, it might get a little more challenging. However, if there is, at least, one spacious closet or a wardrobe in your home, a couple of folding chairs will usually fit somewhere in the back. Thin space left between your furniture and your walls is also an option.

Alternative solutions

However, do not forget that folding chairs are not your only option when it comes to compact and portable chair models you will not use all year around. Stackable chairs, in particular, can be an excellent alternative. Similar to folding chairs, stackable models can be perfect for indoors and outdoors. Going with stackable chairs is a perfect idea for those people who need to buy more than just a couple of ‘spare’ models. If you are still uncertain about the option, take a look at the list of reasons to love stackable chairs.
