How To Decorate A Youth Room

Rooms belonging to adolescent are usually thought to be cluttered and messy. Young people rarely make an effort to clean their rooms and prefer to keep their comfort zone as they like it. To make a youth room look uncluttered and yet have a charming feel to it, the room should have less of furniture  and more of casual seating such as cushions, rugs, couches and even sofa-cum-bed . This casual seating furniture serves just the purposes: giving the room that laid-back, unfussy feel associated with a youth room as well as reducing the space used by that heavy furniture !

A youth room should ideally have a study table to take care of all those books and magazines that would otherwise have been lying around in the room. Better still is the idea of having wooden racks across a wall or two. These wooden racks will be a good place to stack out the magazines and books. Wooden racks will also come in handy for youths to put away their CDs and DVDs.  The colour scheme of the room should also be kept in mind. Colours such as cherry red, lime yellow or even apple green will be a fresh deviation from the usual pink reserved for girls. For boys, however, dark colours such as brown, blue might fare well.

To give the room a personal touch, decorate the walls with pictures. However, to add a streak of creativity to it, create a picture collage! A picture collage would be the perfect thing to make the room look colourful and serve as a beautiful reminder of all those picnics, gatherings, outings and hangouts with friends. Decorating the walls with posters of the youth’s favourite celebrities will also be a nice addition to the room .
