Green Home Improvement For Eco Friendly People

Once you decide to renovate your home, there are many choices before you and the best has to be chosen, with the help of a detailed planning. Primarily, if the cost is minimized to the extent possible, the satisfaction of home renovation will be doubled. Added to this, if you are environmental- friendly, you can opt for green home improvement furniture  which will be cost effective, too.

We all know that we live in a place which cannot be hundred percent free of toxic materials. Therefore, it is crucial to make green choices for your home renovation to ensure good health for all your family members. There are decent and non- toxic materials that last longer and save money in the long run. There are a few suggestions to achieve this.

Doors and windows are the primary targets for green home improvement. Installing double or triple paned windows will help to reduce heat loss and heat gain, air leakage and condensation problems. Likewise, the doors can also be sanded down or elongated, to get a completely new look. Further, allowing a lot of natural light and reducing the need for artificial light, helps to save energy. Composite roof, floor and wall framing is another idea. ICF foundations are eco- friendly. The cabinet should have reduced or nil formaldehyde content. It is also better to avoid VOC paints and finishes.

If at all, you need to use metal, rubber or cement, recycled materials can be chosen. Wooden or linoleum floors are environmental friendly. A good idea that is not realized by many is that you first have to install proper ventilation and then, move on to roof insulation. This will help to prevent potential wood rot. Thus, the money saved on lighting and heating when you have made a green home improvement will actually be beneficial over time, in the long run.
