Furniture For New House Checklist: 10 Essentials To Get Started

Coming up with furniture for new house checklist is not something that can follow strict, rigid guidelines — too many details will depend on your personal decoration preferences, on your available space, and so on. However, it is surely possible to come up with a more or less universal furniture for new house checklist — that is, the list of objects you will definitely need by the time you move in. Here goes:

Kitchen

Apart from the obvious alliances and equipment, you will also need:

Serving table — you will need a place to prepare your meals, so taking care of a serving table or a kitchen island before you move in should be done along with buying a fridge.

Dining set — this is not necessarily an item for the kitchen, but it is obviously food-related, too. So, furnishing your dining area — no matter where is it going to be, in a kitchen, in a living room, or in a separate dining room — is another important thing to take care of.

Bedroom

Bed — well, obviously, you are going to need somewhere to sleep in, so bed  is a logical start. If you have several bedrooms in the house, furnish the ones that are going to be occupied first.

Wardrobe — and, of course, you will need a place to store all of your clothes, so you should better get the wardrobe at once, too. Do not go for something temporary and stick to the piece that will stay with you for a long time.

Living room

Sofa — on the whole, furnishing a living room can wait until after you move in, but if you would like something to get started with, a sofa  is an obvious choice. Recliners, if you need them, are another idea.

TV stand/ brackets — if you plan on having a traditional living room with a TV stands, this is the second important object you should get. The rest of living room furniture — coffee tables, display stands and such can wait.

Hallway

Shoe storage cabinet — this is probably one of the most important storage units in your home, as it helps to avoid mess and clutter in your entrance area. So, it is only reasonable to get shoe storage cabinet  as soon as you move in.

Coat rack — another crucial store furniture in your new house. The choice of model will depend on your hallway size. Sometimes, you will only be able to get a really small coat rack, and sometimes a compact wardrobe might be a nice idea.

Other

Computer desk — if you are working from home or simply own a desktop computer, getting a computer desk should also be somewhere on the top of your furniture for new house checklist. Here, the exact room is not important — a compact workstation can fit in living rooms or bedrooms.

Lamps and mirrors — and, of course, you should not forget to get halfway mirror (it will make your life way easier) and take care of all the light sources before you move into the new house.
