Front Room Furnishings, To Make A Great First Impression

We all want to make a good impression. That’s why we take pains with our appearance and make sure we take the car through the wash. It’s no different when it comes to our homes. When we usher guests into our house for the first time, we want the things they see to reflect well upon us, to speak of our taste and style. That’s why front room furnishings are so important. They’re the furniture that makes that first impression.

Whether your home opens into a foyer and hall, or it opens into a spacious living area, the items with which you decorate that area need to set the stage. If your entryway is a hall area, you will want a nice looking coat tree, preferably with an umbrella stand to handle taking your guests’ outerwear. You might use a console table or a small sideboard  for decoration and to hold mail, keys and other items you like handy by the front entrance. Good flooring and a nice rug will garner admiration and a painting or other bit of nice art will create the finishing touch. You will have created an entryway to remember.

If, on the other hand, your “front” room is a living room or great room, then you will need to work a bit harder. You want to ensure the area immediately visible from the doorway entering the house offers a view of those areas of the room where you’ve spent time and money making it look great. Highlight those special front room furnishings like a lighted curio with objects d’art inside, or maybe a plush, comfortable leather sofa.  Make sure that what they see first is something that makes your home look great. You don’t get second chances at making good first impressions. Ensure that first time visitors to your home don’t need a second look to know you’ve decorated the house in great taste
