Commercial Property Renovation Trends, Old & New Coexisting Happily

When you are a professional, you keep abreast of the latest news in your field. That includes people whose job it is to take run down office buildings or other business properties and make them not only usable again, but to render them desirable. Recently, commercial renovation trends have taken a swing that leaves a bit of the old showing through the new to create a layered look. This look doesn’t say I’m an old building that looks new. It doesn’t pretend to be a brand new building. It says, instead, that it’s a great looking building with lots of furniture stores  experience.

Nostalgia trends are a universal phenomenon. With the last of the baby-boomers now reaching their fifties, much of the money available to invest in rehabilitating old office or commercial spaces is being put up by folks who have fond memories of well-built buildings from their youth. Taking a wrecking ball to a great brick warehouse would be an insult. They would, however, be equally insulted if you tried to make it look like a modernist glass and chrome structure of today. What they want is a nice renovation of a great building that leaves the solid and sturdy showing through the glitz and glamour, and they (and their money) are the ones dictating today’s hottest commercial renovation trends.

If you are a contractor either invested in or interested in entering the field of renovating old buildings for rent or sale as office space or for other commercial interests, read up on this nostalgic new/old trend. Then, go out and visit a few of your areas newest rehabbed office buildings. You will discover that this eclectic mix of old and new is not only charming when the work is done but that it the work easier and, your efforts, less costly.
