Basement Ideas – Creating an Wall Art Studio

Most artists do not have a set routine for working (dining room furniture ). It is hard for them to separate themselves form their art work as it is not only a profession but a passion. They want a work place within their reach at any time. Therefore most of them prefer making a studio at home. All their tools like brushes, paints, pencils, drafting boards, canvas, glue, drafting tables etc should be kept accessible to them whenever they need them and they want peace and quite environment. So setting up a comfortable and visual art studio is vital.

There are few things important before selecting a room for it. It has to be place with almost no traffic and with enough air and light to work properly for long hours. You can’t set it up in any unused area in the house. Basement is a nice place for setting a studio as it is separate from the rest of the house and can easily be converted into whatever way you like.

There are few points to remember before setting it there. Art work of any kind requires use of water very frequently for cleaning etc, so at least a sink is a must or preferably a bathroom so that you don’t have to go upstairs every time you have to use the bathroom. The other important thing is proper light otherwise your eyes will be strained and you might find difficulty selecting the shades properly. It is better to have a basement with windows to let a good amount of sunlight in. If your basement doesn’t have enough natural light then ensure proper artificial lights. Generally artists are very messy so the studio should be made such that everything is within reach and visual and in an organized way. Separate compartments for small tools like brushes etc. and for bigger things like canvas and boards and also tag them properly. Make separate cupboard for the finished products so that they are kept clean and safe.  Paint the studio wall creatively and artistically so that it compliments the art work being done around.
