Adjusting the Lumbar Support on Your Chair for Optimum Comfort

If you spend any extended period of time sitting, whether it’s at your computer or in the driver’s seat of your car, you need to be kind to the lower portion of you spine. After all, while in a seated position, the lumbar and sacral portions of the spine are under the most strain. Many uncomfortable back problems can result from improper support of the lower portion of the spine while seated, ranging from the nagging backache almost all of us know, to the excruciating pain of sciatica. Adjusting the lumbar support on your chair for optimum comfort can be a real lifesaver in preventing this problem from happening to you!

Many chairs don’t come with supports for the low back and only the seats in the most modern and cutting edge cars do. That means that you either have to buy a chair or seat with the support built in or buy it externally. You can purchase lumbar support cushions at some stores, but the most common place to find them is at your doctor or chiropractor’s office. They work well, but the ideal for you – especially if you have low back issues already – is to get a chair with the support you need built in! furniture stores

Chairs  that contain lumbar support are, by necessity, adjustable. After all, no two bodies are exactly the same. Our height, the natural curvatures of our spine and our weight all play roles in what is and is not “proper support” for our low back when seated. If you have an adjustable chair, do spend some time fine-tuning it until the seat is as comfortable as possible.

Simply adjusting the lumbar support on your chair for optimum comfort can translate into preventing long-term, life-affecting low back problems. It also makes the long sit a lot more pleasant, too.
