6 Creative Ideas To Store Your Shoes

Shoe storage is a common challenge in many homes. Even if you leave alone and have but a pair for each season, creative ideas to store your shoes away may come in handy. Here are just some suggestions on shoe storage that will help you avoid mess and clutter at home:

Start with the ordinary Shoe storage

The obvious start is to get yourself a simple shoe storage cabinet. While this is not one of the most creative ideas on shoe storage, it is definitely one of the most functional ones. Shoe cabinets come in many sizes and assemblies, but the thing most models have in common is careful space optimisation and a rather compact size. The range of materials is also very impressive — anything from genuine wood to glossy MDF and plastic is available in furniture stores.

Keep them on racks

One more idea that may prove handy is to store shoes on open shoe racks. They may serve as an addition to an enclosed shoe storage cabinet, or act as separate free-standing units. The benefits of going with a shoe rack include a chance to keep some of the most often used shoes on display, as well as proper ventilation. Plus, an open shoe rack looks more compact than a shoe cabinet, creating an illusion of open space.

Introduce wall shelves and hooks

One of the most creative ideas on storing shoes while at the same time keeping them on display is to give wall shelves — or even simple hooks — a try. This is a fantastic idea that prevents furniture clutter and gives you a chance to boast some of your most cherished designer shoes. And, of course, there is always a chance to create your own, custom wall ornaments with shelves and shoes.

Use storage chests

A fantastic idea for a hallway, storage chests will have dual functionality in your entrance area. They are perfect for storing the shoes you do not wear often away; plus, they offer you a comfy spot to put the shoe on.

Give puffs and ottomans a try

If your hallway is small or narrow, a storage chest might be a little too much for it. A compact ottoman with storage or even a very small puff can act as a great substitute, though.

Get a shoe rack for your bedroom wardrobe

Finally, take a critical look at your bedroom wardrobe. As a rule, it is possible to fit plenty of shoes you do not wear this season in there. Even in a small wardrobe, it is possible to sort your shoes into boxes, or equip your wardrobe with an extra shoe rack, or simply vary your shoe position to fit more shoes on one shelf.

Also, note that many of us use wardrobes at their half capacity. Here, the point is not about how empty the wardrobes are, but rather how we approach wardrobe storage in general. There are so many simple and effective ways to give wardrobe storage a boost — for example, take a look at these ideas.
