6 Creative Bed Ideas For Small Spaces

Bed with a lifting mechanism

There are two common types of a bed with a lifting mechanism. The first one gives you a chance to lift the bed and sort of ‘hide’ in the wall, when you are not using it. This can be a very space-efficient solution, yet, in practice, few homeowners lift their beds everyday. Another type is a lifting mattress mechanism featuring additional storage units under the bed. Surely, it will not replace your wardrobe, but it will still give you a chance to cut down on extra storage units in the room.

Fitted bed

A bed can be carefully fitted into your wall. There are several means of doing so. For example, it can feature closely fitted cabinets on both sides of the bed or have some storage units above the bed.

Second tier

Equipping your room with a second tier and using it as a bed is an amazing idea, and it is simply perfect for a kid’s room. Stairs leading to the sleeping area may also feature hidden storage units – so that every cubic centimeter is utilized to its full capacity.

Double bunk bed

Double bunk beds are classic solutions for two kids. The bunks can be located one under the other, or they can be in front of each other, with one staircase leading to each bed.

Bed with cabinets

Some beds feature cabinets and drawers under the mattress. This is another functional solution; plus, it does not require lifting the mattress, which is definitely a perk.

Vertical rails

Finally, one of the most creative, not to say – extreme – solutions is a bed with vertical rails. Lift the bed up to the ceiling when you are not using it (automatically, of course), and get it down any time you want to take a nap.

Some of the mentioned above bed ideas for small places are relatively widespread, which means that you will be able to find similar furniture solutions in some of the local shops. A bed with a lifting mechanism, or a bed with storage below the mattress, for example, can easily be found in major UK furniture stores . Some of the more exotic options will have to be ordered – after all, it is not easy to find a ready-made solution that would fully meet your room dimensions.  Whichever option you choose in the end, make sure that you have carefully considered your room dimensions (all other furniture items included) before you place a custom order.
